How to slow down the early graying of the hair?

The graying of the hair is a natural physiological process, due to the gradual decrease of the pigment melanin. Usually, this is one of the external signs that a person is getting older.

But sometimes the first appearance of gray hairs does not occur at the age of 30-35 years, which is considered normal, but much earlier.


How to slow down the early graying of the hair?


In medicine, the graying of the hair is considered premature if it is under 30 years of age and also if at 40 years more than half of the hair is already white. This may often be a matter of genetics.

But not only heredity determines that, there could be health problems.


The early gray hair issues the presence of:


  • chronic diseases of the digestive system;
  • cardiovascular pathologies;
  • thyroid dysfunction;
  • anemia;
  • chronic diseases of the nervous system.

The loss of the natural hair color can be caused by unhealthy habits – smoking and alcohol abuse. Strict diets in women from 17 to 25 years provoke the early graying of the hair.

This may also be due to hair dyes and other chemicals.


Often, the early graying of the hair may also be caused by:


  • acute stress
  • hypothermia
  • prolonged diets with starvation,
  • lack of vitamins and minerals
  • violation of the microcirculation of the skin in some diseases.

However, according to statistics, 30% of the gray hairs at a young age are of stressful experience and this process is reversible.


Here are some important rules to avoid graying of the hair earlier:


  1. Avoid stress.
  2. Eat properly, focusing on white poultry, fish, dairy products and seafood, nuts and seeds, mushrooms and herbs. From the fruits and vegetables you should prefer pears, apples, cherries, plums, raspberries, blackberries, zucchini, cauliflower, radishes and carrots.
  3. Do twice yearly a vitamin therapy for 1-2 months with vitamin B complex, riboflavin, folic acid, vitamins A, E, C.
  4. Wear warm winter hats and do not use icy water to wash your head.
  5. Do not pull the white hairs – this usually leads to a completely opposite effect – rapid increase in their number.
  6. Regularly massage your scalp for five minutes when washing or combing to activate the inflow of blood to the hair follicles.

There are also homemade remedies with proven therapeutic effectiveness in cases of early graying.


Here are the most popular recipes:


  1. Each night massage the scalp with a decoction of nettle, which is made with 50 g nettle soaked in 1 liter of a mixture of water and vinegar (1: 1) and then boiled for 30 minutes, cooled and filtered.
  1. Homemade butter from cow milk has a positive effect when used daily, as rubbed into the hair roots before washing.


This strengthens the structure of the hair, stimulates the growth and restores the natural color.
