You notice that every time you ran a hand through your hair, in it remain more and more hairs until at some point you have the feeling that they are all around you, but not on your head. Hair loss!

The reasons may be various – from the onset of the autumn season through stress and exhaustion of the body to recently passed pregnancy. Unraveling them is not always easy, but the hair clearly indicates that it needs help and it adequate and timely. Such offer us the numerous products against hair loss, but if you read the content of the best of them, you will find that their active ingredients are herbal extracts. The word extract sounds complicated but is actually an aqueous, alcoholic or oily extract from a medicinal plant which we can easily prepare at home.

Domestic herbal lotions against hair loss have a row of advantages – they are cheap, effective and without any unnecessary additives. In the preparation and their use, however you have to be careful because most of the herbs that stimulate the hair growth are poisonous. Such are ivy, burdock, and especially the hellebore. But if you follow some basic safety precautions, you can still take advantage of their stimulatory effects:

  • The pot, in which you boil the herbs, should not be used for other purposes.
  • Of those herbs use aqueous extracts (decoctions, infusions) because they penetrate to a lesser depth than the alcoholic and oily.
  • Boil the herbs in a well ventilated room to prevent the inhalation of vapors.
  • At the application of the ready lotion be careful for it not to leak in the eyes, nose or mouth.
  • After the procedure, wash your hands very well.
  • Store the ready herbs and potions in bottles and bags with an inscription out of the reach of small children.

Hellebore – 1 teaspoon of dried roots of the herb are boiled in half a liter of water and allowed to brew for two hours. The liquid is then filtered and rubbed into the hair roots half an hour before washing.

Burdock and ivy – 10 grams burdock roots and 10 grams ivy leaves are boiled in half a liter of water for 15 minutes. The liquid is applied with a massage again only on the roots.

If you’re still afraid to use these herbs, you are breastfeeding or you are pregnant, as effective but completely safe are the roots of the nettle.

Roots of nettle – most effectively stop the hair loss in the form of a tincture (alcoholic extract). Preferably use fresh roots (dug up in autumn or early spring). Wash thoroughly a handful of them, cut them into small pieces and pour over them 250ml vodka. This mixture should stay for two weeks in the dark in a tightly closed jar or bottle, and then strained.

Unlike the aqueous decoctions, the tincture has a very long shelf life and you do not even need to store it in the refrigerator. Every day for two weeks rub it in the hair roots as you try to dilute the washing with shampoo. During the treatment your hair loss will decrease and in a few months later you will notice new growth.

Other herbs that have a stimulating effect on the hair are rosemary (grandmotherly hair), sage, white birch, coltsfoot and others.
